As a Certified Gottman Method Couples'
Therapist and a VA Licensed Professional Counselor, I
thoroughly enjoy learning from and helping towards the
development and evolution of co-leader intimate
relationships. This is such an exciting profession
to be a part of and to see the growth and
transformations occur between two individuals is one of
the great rewards of my life.
I am more than my work with couples. I
love adventurous experiences that also are wholesome and
ethically compliant to my standard of humanity. I
have made self-improvements I am proud of, such as
becoming a Pescetarian (vegetarian plus fish and
seafood) and adhering to an overall healthy
lifestyle. I no longer depend upon coffee nor need
alcohol to rev me up or calm me down because I have
found that eating more protein and organic whole foods
with blue green algae that replenishes the nutrients
lost in our soil actually do this superbly.
Oh, and did I say how much I love-love-love
music, especially the oldies but goodies...I don't know
why but when I listen to the 1950s - 1970s, and the big
band music as well, something incredibly inspiring takes
over within and I just want to stand up and shake,
rattle and roll! Nothing brings greater joy to me
than perhaps my beautiful Alaskan Malamute,
"Willie." Some day, I would love to have my own
sled team of these magnificent beings (not Iditarod
style but to the pace and comfort of my team). Update -
After nearly 16 years with us, Willie passed away
peacefully at home. He will be sorely missed.
Saving the best for last...is my husband,
John. I am so fortunate to be married to the love
of my life...to wake up and want to be with him and at
the end of the day, feel stirred with excitement when I
hear his car drive up the driveway.
And, I practice what I preach. After over 21 years of marriage, John and I are at the best place in our relationship ever. I make sure we have time each week to work on our own marraige, spend fun time with each other and talk. Even my own relationship takes work and effort and attention. Applying what I have learned in my training and in my practice to my own marriage has been esential in working through our differences and building my union into something wonderful.
